The EV Group is a recognized technology and market leader for precision systems and process solutions for wafer processing in the semiconductor industry, microsystems technology, and nanotechnology. Core products include wafer bonders, thin wafer processing systems, lithography and nanoimprint lithography systems, photoresist coating equipment, as well as cleaning and measuring systems. The company, which was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in St. Florian am Inn (Austria), employs more than 1,100 people and supports well-known production customers and R&D partners all over the world through its branch offices in the USA, Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan aswell as through representative offices elsewhere.
The EV Group is carrying out its business intelligence and advanced analytics strategy using the BI platform from Oracle. During this process, the company discovered that it needed to take master and transaction data from SAP and make it available in the Oracle Business Intelligence Service. Thomas Schicklberger, IT Application Service Engineer for Business Intelligence at the EV Group, noted: “We didn’t want to access the SAP tables directly, but rather just the SAP data sources (extractors), since these always deliver exactly what is defined, regardless of how much the substructureof the database tables or the overall architecture changes. This was also an important consideration for us in light of the upcoming migration to S4/HANA.” A simple, low-threshold solution was sought for this that would import data from the SAP source systems in a stable and high-performance manner using SAP’s own or SAP-certified methods and provide it for the data warehouse.
