Comprised of around 2,700 employees, GETEC is a leading energy service provider and contracting specialist for the industrial and real estate sectors in Europe. The organization has 12,000 powerplants, which collectively generate over 6.1 GW of thermal energy. They operate across nine countries through four regional platforms: Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Italy.
Over the past several years, GETEC has worked to advance their technological capabilities. This process has included increasing their use of BI solutions.
In order to simplify data evaluation and analysis from various source systems, GETEC keeps their data in one central location: A Microsoft SQL Server-based data warehouse. GETEC pairs this warehouse with Microsoft Power BI, using Microsoft SSIS for data integration. This enables their employees to process data for analysis and reporting purposes. During the rollout of S/4HANA, GETEC wished to automate their data integration process from a SAP instance into the data warehouse.
Xtract IS is a key component of our strategy for the effective and efficient use of SAP data for analysis and reporting purposes.
Solution with Xtract IS
During their initial research phase, GETEC connected with an integration service provider who recommended Xtract IS. According to Celine Ly, IT Service Manager Data & Analytics at GETEC, it was easy to integrate our tool:
“On the infrastructure side, we had to make some firewall and network settings and identify the correct ports. But installing Xtract IS and building pipelines is very easy and quick to implement.”
Theobald Software also provided exceptionally speedy support. One of their first collaborations involved solving an issue related to the SQL Server version. Theobald Software’s team solved this issue immediately after a support ticket was submitted.
With Xtract IS, GETEC can easily extract tables from SAP and transfer this information to their data warehouse. From there, the Data Integration Team analyzes this information and adds relevant non-SAP data. Different departments at their organization have different data requirements, and Xtract IS empowers employees to manually adjust the data to match these demands.
The data from SAP is updated daily, on an automated schedule. This allows each of the departments access to the most current data possible, with little maintenance effort from the Data Integration Team.
